Preparing for Adulthood Focus Month 2021

Opportunities for parents and carers to be involved

Year 9 PFA Focus Month, is a pilot project aiming to place the focus of PFA at an early stage. To read more about the project click here. As part of the project there are opportunities for all parents and carers of years 8-10’s (and above) with SEND to take part, as well as the parents and carers of those pupils taking part in the pilot.

How is Bolton Doing?

Bolton Parent Carers are hosting two of our “How is Bolton Doing?” listening sessions that will focus purely on PFA, for parents and carers of Years 8, 9,10 and 11 SEND pupils. This is a great opportunity to meet with local SEND professionals and share what you would like the local area to be able to offer for you child as they become adults. We have professionals from education, employment, housing, social care (and more) attending. For more information about these sessions click here

Webinars

PFA Planning Month starts with a series of online webinar sessions that have been developed to help those taking part in the pilot understand more about subjects such as social care, health, employment and more.

The webinars will be open to all SEND parents of year 8-10 pupils in Bolton. The content is aimed at this age group, however if your child is older and you feel you may still benefit from this introductory level webinar, we welcome you join us.

Webinars will be held on Microsoft Teams. The webinars are being organised by Bolton Council, with Bolton Parent Carers supporting the registration of parents for the sessions. Once registered, links will be sent via email closer to the date of the webinar.
