Making sure that local SEND professionals hear parent carers experiences is one of our main responsibilities. Last year we had our first ‘How is Bolton Doing?” sessions where we brought parent carers together with professionals from education, health and social care. The sessions were extremely positive and appreciated by everyone.
This month we held 2 sessions and were joined by Sue Cornwell, Head of SEND, Bernie Brown, Director of People, Sine Hall, Transitions Team Manager, Jane Pout, Children with Disabilities, Jo Higham, Commissioning Manager Bolton CCG, Jenny Wilkinson, Lead Professional for SEND Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. The sessions were informal and provided plenty of opportunity for parents to share their experiences.
The views and experiences we gather at our listening events form part of our ongoing work that we do as a parent forum. For the professionals that attend the sessions, it is an invaluable experience to hear first hand about the services they run.
We will be running these listening events regularly.
